Mary Downing Hahn

Mary Downing Hahn wanted to be an artist when she was young.  However, she thinks she is a better writer that illustrator.  Her ideas come from everywhere:  memories she has, stories people tell her, and things that she sees.  She really enjoys writing spooky stories and adds a little fantasy or unreality to her stories.  Her advice to kids wanting to become authors, "Read, read, read!"  Ms. Hahn won the Rebecca Caudill Children's Book Award for Wait Til Helen Comes.
