Assistant Principal Appreciation week was apparently this week. We had it on our calendar for NEXT week. So, oh darn, we will celebrate Mrs. Gawla for TWO weeks instead of one (she is doubly amazing though, so it is fitting isn't it?!?!)
This flyer will be coming home with students today, but if your child would like to participate in some fun dress up days, I think Mrs. Gawla would love it! Thanks for all your support!

We value and appreciate all our school librarians today on National School Librarian Day and all days! District 202 appreciates your hard work and dedication to your job! #202proud

Per Gov. JB Pritzker, flags at all District 202 buildings will fly at half staff until sunset Thursday to honor and remember DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputy Christina Musil who died in the line of duty on March 28.

Yesterday, FBI went out to Dunkin Donuts for breakfast. Everyone enjoyed getting to choose exactly what they wanted to eat and drink! Fun way to end before Spring Break!

What better way to wrap up the day than with an earned fort day! Mrs Rodriguez's 3rd grade class brought blankets in and learned in the floor for the last part of the day. This was an incentive her students earned for great behavior. Way to go!

Today being the last day before Spring Break, some of our teachers participated in a "Freaky Friday Teacher Swap" where those who chose to participate were randomly assigned a new room to teach in for an hour. From 3rd grade teachers in K classes, to an Assistant Principal in 5th, fun times were had by all!

Another experience from the School Store was cashed in today. Decorating cookies with Mrs Smith! It was a delicious reminder of what following the ROAR expectations can earn us here at RV!

Mrs. Harper offered an experience to students to spend time with her building bird feeders. The students who chose her experience had a great time and I think the birdhouses turned out beautiful!

On Monday, our 4th graders participated in a Poetry Day. This included spending time with Poet, Bill Buczinsky, who met with each class and gave them inspirational advice. The culminating activity was publishing a book of poems! Here are a couple of pictures from Mrs Schultz's class.

This morning we took some time to celebrate Mrs. Siedler, K/1 Special Education teacher, who is expecting her first baby in late April. It was such a great way to start our Thursday with all the love! Special thank you to Miss Tobias for all the extra touches that made it so special!!!

Another experience that students had the option to choose was Hoops with Huska. Mr. Huska gave up some of his lunch time to play basketball with students who cashed in their earned ROAR bucks. It was so much fun!

Mrs. Stennetts friends are using excellent manners and collaboration to examine different adaptations of different animals from a variety of ecosystems! They are truly engaged and loving what they are learning!

🍀🍀We've got some sneaky first graders who are ready to catch a Leprechaun! These traps were built by Mrs. Kolinski and Mrs. Dunow's students. I hope one of the traps work and they get the Leprechaun's pot of gold! (and maybe they will share!!!!)🍀🍀

Yesterday our 4th graders strutted their stuff down the red carpet in their very own Idiom Fashion Show! Thankfully it wasn't "Raining Cats and Dogs", so they were able to "Lend their Ears" and use the "Eyes in the Back of their Heads" to cheer their classmates on. And too soon "Time was Flying" and the event was over. But their hard work had paid off and we were super proud! Yesterday, several of River View's students participated in the Green House Science Fair. We are so proud of all our students who chose to design a science experiment and present it. Mrs. Boukram was able to snap a few pictures to share. It was also shared that our very own third grader Natalie M. came in 1st place out of all the third graders who entered. Way to go Natalie!!!!

☘️Our Intermediate FBI class celebrated St Patrick's Day early with coloring sheets, green soda and homemade shamrock shakes! Even Mrs Gawla got to join in on the fun!!! ☘️

On Friday both of our FBI classrooms went to see the James and the Giant Peach play at Lewis University. They had a wonderful time!

Congratulations to our 2023-2024 CAPE Winners!

We had so many nominations! We are extremely proud of these ladies and feel the award is very well deserved! Congratulations again!

Today it was our third graders turn to have an opportunity to see James and the Giant Peach at Lewis University. We heard the same great things - entertaining and fun! They did a great job on their field trip as well!

🌟Tonight was RV's 'Let it Glow' STREAM night! 🌟. It was a Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art and Math palooza!!!! All with a glow-in-the-dark theme. We had an OUTSTANDING turn out! Thank you to everyone who helped make this event happen, including PCHS NHS students.
